About Jeff

Without much experience he was struggling to find work so was keen to take advantage of the Pump’s employability scheme to gain vocational qualifications and build on-the-job experience. Arconic conducted interviews towards the end of the process and Jeff impressed with his enthusiasm and drive to succeed. As a result, he was offered a place on the prestigious 12-month internship scheme and started in late Oct 2018.
About Haadhir

Haadhir started the course back in March and was an active and enthusiastic member of the group and really gained confidence as the course progressed. The Pump worked in conjunction with Business in the Community’s Ready for Work scheme to find a placement with Marks & Spencer
About Callum

Callum approached the Pump in mid-2019 after hearing about the Work Experience scheme. He had been applying to the high profile apprenticeship schemes at companies like JLR but had experienced a few knockbacks. He had a keen interest in manufacturing and engineering but it’s fair to say his confidence was low and had been out of work for some time.
About Nick

Nick is a 23-year-old who was very keen to work but due to a difficult few years including periods of homelessness, was struggling to find employment.

Our organisation is a hub of youth work working closely with our partners to provide a holistic and integrated service to young people and provide opportunities that inspire and motivate them to be the best they can.
About T ROADZ

T ROADZ is an aspiring rapper who regularly attends The Pump to record music. His aspirations were able to flourish through The Pump as he was able to regularly access the recording studio for free, he could access the studio to work on his music regularly and this gave Tyreece the opportunity to practice, which would then give him the courage to perform for live audiences.

Our new Makerspace is a brand new space at The Pump established to inspire and innovate, though a fully-kitted workshop giving you the power to turn ideas and concepts into reality.
History

The Pump, formerly known as the Shard End Community Building Project (SECBP), is the realisation of a vision of HRH The Prince of Wales, who wanted to create an outstanding building which would not only act as a focus and inspiration for the personal development of young people, but would also be designed and built by young people.
Music Space: Recording Studio

This space is ideal for individual music makers, small groups up to 6 who are looking to record and mix vocals and live instrumentation in a sound-treated environment.
Youth Engagement Forum

The Youth Forum is a place for young people to voice their ideas/ opinions and enables Youth workers that are in charge of collating this information to produce solutions and an end result
