From its original concept 20 years ago, The Pump successfully developed as a facility that supports young people in a disadvantaged area of East Birmingham, offering a wide range of services.

Recent contractual and financial challenges have generated a need to evolve so that additional, self-funding services can be launched which will also relate effectively with the local community, commerce and education.

This plan sets out the ways in which this will be achieved, with clear actions and performance targets that all stakeholders can buy into. Some areas are already being actioned and there is a requirement to secure set-up funding for further changes, but the aim of longer-term self-sufficiency is key.
